Wayfair's global demand engineering and analytics team creates algorithmic solutions to improve the customer experience, supplier experience and internal efficiencies that ultimately drive our bottom line. The team includes data science/ML/economics experts, ML/software engineers, advanced analysts and product managers; who are responsible for the development and management of global large-scale demand forecasting systems; which streamlines Wayfair's complex supply chain. Within this broader team, the Catalog Segment Strategy and Analytics team helps define how to intelligently segment our catalog for high ROI using nuanced assortment-aware planning and inventory management strategies across our catalog and within each segment. The Replenishment Platform team is seeking a Senior Technical Analyst to increase the organization's understanding of the performance of a portfolio of over 25 million products and help create strategies that optimize trade-offs between inventory availability, delivery speed and supply chain costs.

what are you doing
- Perform statistical analysis on large data sets and defined segments to generate performance insights based on multiple attributes.
- Use these results to develop further segmentation to improve operational efficiency and business results.
- Creating efficient data structures that can be used across the organization and can be maintained in a dynamic environment.
- Connect this information to Wayfair's back-end systems to improve supply chain operations and performance.
- Collaborate with our Operations Research team to develop operational strategies across product segments that optimize business results and improve catalog performance with a focus on affordable and statically actionable approaches.
- Generating segment-level performance forecasts to develop holistic insights that show the trajectory of the entire business across various functional KPIs.
- Collaboration with partners in the field of business, operations and technology; and ensure that Wayfair's business goals and our data science strategies are aligned.
- We develop key metrics and reports to measure how strategic initiatives are improving Wayfair's performance and enable our team to easily identify trends and root causes and develop targeted action plans.
- Collaborate with engineers, product managers and data scientists in Forecasting and neighboring teams to continue to grow Wayfair's data science product community.
Who are you:
- A highly analytical person who knows how to give structure to complex and often ambiguous data and modeling problems
- MS in a quantitative field (engineering, operations research, mathematics, economics) with strong academic experience
- Exceptional analytical skills, including a high level of comfort/knowledge with SQL, Google Cloud Platform or others
- daily and proven knowledge development of relational database technologies leading to action
- Experience with statistical programming or scripting languages (Python, R, etc.)
- Willingness to engage in hands-on problem solving - including problem definition, prototype development and collaboration with engineering to bring the solution to a scalable production environment. Passionate about solving complex supply chain business problems from problem definition and business case development to implementation
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment with multiple competing priorities and quick turnarounds to support the business
- A natural team player willing to assist other analysts and business stakeholders with their data and modeling needs
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate complex analysis into a logical and compelling business narrative.
- Favorability to work with information and resourcefulness in situations where clean information and/or complete information is not available
