The voice and search engineering team creates and widely deploys services that improve the text search, voice search and playback experience, and the personalized search experience. We are a young and fast-paced team dedicated to software development best practices. Our exciting roadmap combines elements of large-scale system development, solving voice and text NLU problems, and creating delightful customer experiences.

Sr. As an SDE on this team, your duties will include:
- Transform functional requirements into robust, efficient and scalable solutions that fit the overall system architecture.
- Own and manage podcast initiatives in teams with Amazon Music and Alexa Entertainment organizations.
- Be involved in the end-to-end development cycle, from design, implementation and testing to documentation, delivery and maintenance.
- Provide technical direction to the team and mentor junior engineers.
- Evaluate and make decisions about the use of new or existing software and tools.
- Continue to strive to improve the efficiency of the team and acquired services.

The ideal candidate will have
- 7 years of professional software development experience
- 5 years of experience leading the design and architecture of large systems
- Experience as a mentor, technical lead or engineering team leader
- Strong verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills. Experience building large search and discovery systems, knowledge of search technologies
- Experience working in a distributed team
- The podcast teams are located in Seattle, Los Angeles, and San Francisco, and this role is open to applicants in all of these locations.

Basic tasks
- Work closely with partners across the Amazon Music organization to understand various business and customer issues
- Use industry-leading tools and technologies to optimally solve these problems and deliver better search experiences
- Define and build scalable solutions that are easy to deploy and maintain
- Build distributed storage, indexing and query systems that are scalable, fault tolerant, affordable and easy to manage/use.
- Work in an agile environment to build a strong roadmap and deliver quality software
- Guide, lead and guide young engineers to become future leaders
