Internal movement fitness:
- Must be in good standing in current position (no formal performance development - written training letter, corrective memo or notice of final corrective action in the past six months).
- Has not transferred from the current department into the current position in the last six months.
- This requirement may be waived for promotional opportunities such as SA to CSA/CXA or CSA/CXA to Professional CSA/CXA. Must have at least 1 year in current position if transferring from outside division ACS/CGO/Clean/GSE. Currently in active status, but if you are in inactive status, you may be eligible to transfer if you return to active status before the transfer date. You have a valid driver's license.
- Must successfully complete all pre-employment and potential assessment requirements. Ground Maintenance Mechanic works as a semi-expert mechanic in GSE (Ground Support Equipment) maintenance.
- Safety conscious behavior is practiced in all work processes and procedures.
- This position is responsible for using appropriate tools, equipment and materials to perform minor maintenance tasks including but not limited to: inspections, minor problems, component repair, removal and replacement, cleaning, assembly, fabrication of certain support equipment.
- The Grounds Maintenance Mechanic operates in accordance with company practices and procedures and may assist or supervise the Lead Grounds Maintenance Technician or Grounds Maintenance Technician on equipment as needed. Performs data to repair work tasks and communicates with other company employees as needed.
- The minimum starting rate for this position is $29 per hour.
Summary of Responsibilities (does not include all duties):
- Performs all routine and non-routine maintenance and interior and exterior painting of passenger loading docks (interior, exterior, console and platform lights). This includes replacing the bulb and lens.
- Any electrical problems such as replacement of ballasts and/or furniture will be reported to GSE inspection.
- Performs all routine and non-routine maintenance of ventilation equipment hoses, adapters, air filters, condensation pans and marked lamps and lenses.
- All non-operating units must be reported to GSE inspection. Performs all routine and non-routine maintenance of gearboxes, bearings and axles, roller changes, timing belts and belt changes.
- Personnel Baggage Handling System and0;BHSAnd#1; control rooms, as well as the installation of bag blockages on the BHS flow. Performs all routine and non-routine adjustments to ground cables and associated mounts/saddles. Report any non-functioning equipment/windings to the GSE control unit.
- Performs all routine maintenance (PMI), non-routine, emergency and heavy maintenance work on water closets.
- All electrical problems such as non-functioning motors, switches, heat streaks and/or lamp replacement will be reported to GSE inspection.
- Repairs small components and assembles non-specialized components into specialized equipment;
- components include: air conditioning adapters, water closet adapters, luggage carousel bumpers and dock light controls.
