The Cyber Security Operations Engineer is responsible for the successful delivery, design and support of a vulnerability management program with a primary focus on asset identification, vulnerability scanning, scan results, reporting, response, vulnerability assessment and remediation prioritization and partnerships . with other responsible teams. mitigation strategies and vulnerabilities, as well as the tools and methods used in the program.
The engineer identifies gaps and inefficiencies in the vulnerability remediation program, works with the team to implement solutions, and collaborates with Costco's internal global teams and suppliers on solution recommendations. Engineer works with suppliers on product consideration, proof of concepts and solution recommendations. The engineer ensures that security best practices are reviewed and implemented throughout the vulnerability management lifecycle, mentors team members with less expertise, and provides consulting services to teams and stakeholders to improve vulnerability management and remediate their environments.

ROLE

- Uses a risk-based approach to vulnerability assessment and prioritization.
- Works analytically and solves both tactical and strategic problems in vulnerability management and remediation programs.
- Researches, designs, develops and verifies applications and configurations for vulnerabilities using industry standard tools such as Rapid7, Tenable, Tripwire, NMAP, Qualys, PrismaCloud, Wiz.IO, RiskIQ, application scanners and other vulnerability scanners. a wide range of global business and enterprise information systems, both on-premises and cloud-based.
- Monitors and maintains technical documentation and architectural drawings related to vulnerability.
- Facilitates the integration of data from vulnerability management tools into enterprise systems to automate operations and workflows.
- Participates in and oversees the collection and integration of information related to our environment from various sources and formats.
- Identifies opportunities to reduce the attack surface by analyzing enterprise-specific and COTS application vulnerability data.
- Leads mature vulnerability remediation efforts for Costco and the overall vulnerability management program.
- Participates as an active member of the risk exposure management team, participates in team activities and planning related to improving team skills, awareness, communication, reputation and work quality.
- Collaborates and communicates with compliance, internal audit, business teams and others to identify, analyze and communicate risks and provide support in managing vulnerabilities to these business requirements.
- Identify, develop and implement mechanisms to address vulnerabilities and how they can lead to business events to improve compliance and support for security standards and procedures.
- Coordinate security incidents with incident management team as needed.
- Understands compliance requirements that may impact security and collaborates effectively with business areas and project teams to develop security solutions that meet these requirements, including supporting QSA functions.
- takes a leading role in advocating compliance with information security measures necessary to protect the company's applications and environments internally and externally.
- Collaborates with information system owners and managers to understand their information security needs and helps implement policies and procedures consistent with Costco's information security policy.
